While we learn the programming of Flashdance at the Casino de Paris from January 2023, the complete cast has just been revealed. The casting announcement comes a few days after the disappearance of Irene Cara, eternal interpreter of the title song “Flashdance… What a Feeling”.
Disney stars on display
The first star to join the cast is Anaïs Delva as Gloria. She is best known for having performed the hit "Libérée Délivrée" in Snow Queen. Cerise Calixte, who lent her voice to Moana will interpret Kiki. Eka Kharlov will be Alex and will dance the mythical “Maniac” choreography. Laure Balon (stage expression coach of Star Ac) will be Miss Hannah.
Jimmy Bourcereau will be Frank, Djamel Mehnane will take over the role of Jimmy and Benoit De Gauléjac will play Harry. At their side, we will find Armonie Coiffard in Miss Wilde and Salomé Dirmann.
Flashdance, the big comeback
In Paris, the show was staged in 2014 at the Théâtre du Gymnase with Priscilla Betti in the lead role. Philippe Hersen was already directing the show. But the show had experienced many problems: technical problems and the too narrow stage had created frustration among the spectators. 2 years later, the producer Claude Cyndecki had reinvested in the show, which had been able to tour the Zeniths.
In 2023, the show is making a comeback, this time at the Casino de Paris with an entirely new cast. He will then go on tour throughout France in 2024.
The story
In 2023, the movie Flashdance celebrates its 40th anniversary… but what is it about? If the stage version is very different from the film, it still follows the story of Alex. This young woman, who works in a steelworks, dances her choreographies at night at Harry's Club. His wildest dream is to join Shipley Academy. She goes out with Nick who secretly helps her pass the 2nd round of auditions. But, if Alex wants to succeed on her own, she can still count on the support of her friends Kiki, Tess and Gloria.
