Billy Elliot

1984: In a town in the north of England, miners are on strike when Margaret Thatcher announces the closure of the coal mines. Billy Elliot is 11 years old and his father and brother are taking part in the strike. Her mother is long dead and her grandmother is not entirely aware of it. Billy takes boxing lessons at school (and doesn't really like it) and ends up in ballet lessons especially frequented by girls. He developed a passion for ballet so much that his teacher enrolled him in the Royal Ballet auditions. When his family uncovers his secret, Billy is torn between his unexpected love of dancing and his family's disintegration.
