Hadestown baseball cap

Summary of the musical Hadestown baseball cap :

The musical mixes two myths: on the one hand that of Orpheus and Eurydice and on the other that of King Hades and his wife Persephone.

The show takes us back to the 30s after the Great Depression. Here, Hadestown is not just hell but also a mine. It is ruled by Hades, the god of death and malicious overseer, who forces his workers to work tirelessly to build an endless wall around his city.

It is in this icy climate that Eurydice meets Orpheus, a young poet and singer. They fall in love but the young artist, who is working endlessly on a song that could bring back the summer, does not realize his wife's distress. Trapped by Hades, who promises her a better life, Eurydice joins the miners in hell. Orpheus embarks on a long journey through hell to bring his wife back to life. But he must respect one condition: during the long journey bringing them back to the world of the living, Orpheus will not be allowed to turn around to look at his wife. But the singer doubts that his wife is behind him...

This tragic story is narrated by the messenger Hermès, three muses and all in a folk-pop style.
