In 2022, there will be musicals in Paris... and not just a few! After 2 years (already) of cancellations and postponements of shows, 2022 could well be the year of a return to normal. That's what we hope, especially when you see the large number of musical performances planned for this season.
Without further ado, here is our selection of must-see musicals in Paris in 2022!
The Lion King
After an end to 2021 marked by cancellations linked to COVID, The Lion King roars louder than ever at the Théâtre Mogador until July. The musical with 100 million spectators internationally intends to attract spectators from all over France and abroad in 2022. Come and find Simba, Pumbaa, Timon and the whole troupe in the cult Broadway musical.
An impressive show for all ages.
The Producers
Keep it gay! The Mel Brooks Musical, The Producers premiered in France with a staging by Alexis Michalik. The show has been so successful that it has already been extended until May 2022 at the Théâtre de Paris.
A hilarious musical not to be missed in 2022.
We already feel that the show is going to be the favorite of the Molières!
Charlie and the chocolate factory
Yum yum! Since its opening last October at the Théâtre du Gymnase, the musical has delighted audiences. Following this success, the chocolate factory is moving to the Théâtre Marigny from February 18, 2022. You can find a superb troupe of actors-singers-dancers there, led by Arnaud Denissel as Willy Wonka. Even if the show is far from perfect, it is nonetheless a great musical getaway for the whole family.

Starmania
Starmania finally coming to town!!! After many postponements, Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon's rock opera celebrates its 40th anniversary on stage. And to mark the occasion, it is Thomas Jolly who directs, with the choreographies of Cherkaoui: a masterpiece is being prepared! The casting has still not been revealed but we already know that it will be talked about.

I will love you
Calling all fans of Michel Sardou. You are invited aboard the liner France for a musical journey between France, New York and Marrakech. The story follows the adventures of six friends over several decades. A musical for ages 7 to 77 (or even older) to be found at the Seine Musicale from May 20 to June 19. Even
An unexpected discovery of the season, the experimental musical show Even by Pierre Rigal. A show where dance, music and dialogue intertwine, repeat, rewind, all with pure comedy. On a stage, 9 dancers and musicians from the group MicroRéalité offer an offbeat performance that is always in motion. A theatrical discovery that will please the most curious among you. Madiba
The musical show paying tribute to Nelson Mandela will be at the Grand Rex for two performances only. It traces the impossible love story between two young adults, but, inspired by Mandela, will fight for their love. Since its creation in 2009, the show has already caused a stir. Following these Parisian dates, the musical will go on tour in France in 2022 and 2023. All the information will be released soon! The Little Shop of Horrors
Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's cult musical is finally staged in French! And she is in good hands. The kings of the bizarre, Christian Hecq and Valérie Lesort, sign the staging of the show with the complicity of the Orchester le Balcon. The musical will be at the Opéra-Comique from December 10 to 25 and will only last 1h30 without intermission. A surprise in the usual programming of the theater!
Moreover, we already know the interpreters of the main characters: Marc Mauillon, Judith Fa, Lionel Painter and Damien Bigourdan.

Egosystem
This is one of the most anticipated musicals in Paris in 2022: ego system ! An entirely a cappella show written by Raphaël Callandreau and directed by Nicolas Guilleminot. The story follows Alban, a single thirty-year-old in the midst of an existential crisis. During an evening, he went to the land of his imagination where he reviews his life and all the stereotypes of our society.
Ego system is the paradise of harmonies interpreted by Marie Glorieux, Cloé Horry, Adrien Biry-Vicente, Vincent Gilliéron.

Turkey
Feydeau in a musical, it's possible! At the Théâtre Essaïon, the atypical characters of the farce come to life in song and dance in this new modern version. The musical is composed by Sophie Jolis and directed by Hélène Darche with 6 actors and a pianist. A show to look forward to.

Odyssey, the musical conference
Take a great lesson in Greek mythology with this musical show. In an hour and a half, Julie Costanza and Jean-Baptiste Darosey embody some fifteen characters and recount in song, dance and words the incredible 20-year journey of Ulysses. A family and very funny show for all to be found every Sunday at 15 p.m. at the Comédie des Trois Bornes, until June 19, 2022. We loved it!

Nosztalgia express
This is a very intriguing sight. With Nosztalgia Express, Marc Lainé offers a true musical thriller. Thought in the tradition of spy novels, the show follows the story of a successful singer in the midst of an existential crisis, obsessed with his mother who abandoned him. With the help of a private detective, they set off in search of Simone, the singer's mother, in the heart of the 50s in Budapest.
The music is by Emile Sornin (from the group Forever Pavot). We hope this show will be in the vein of City of Angels, a brilliant musical comedy about a writer and private detective.

New, the improvised musical
New, it is the phenomenon of musical improvisation not to be missed. The principle: you choose the title and the actors and musicians improvise a hilarious story live and in song. In addition, on February 8, the show celebrated its 100th performance (already!). You can come as many times as you want, the show is never the same! The mysterious cities of Gold
“Child of the sun, you travel the earth, the sky…”, we are sure that you already have the music in mind. The Jungle Book
Mounted in Paris in 2017 and nominated for the Molières the following year, The Jungle Book continues its journey at the Théâtre de Paris. Adapted from Kipling's novel, this musical is by Ely Grimaldi and Igor de Chaillé, with music by Raphael Sanchez. It follows the adventures of the young boy Mowgli, who grows up in the heart of the jungle, surrounded by animals. A colorful show with beautiful choreography and costumes perfect for young and old alike.

Pinocchio
In the beauty of the Théâtre de la Renaissance, the tale of Pinocchio comes to life. Songs, acrobatics, poetry and humor are the show's key words for the whole family. Created in 2019, it was nominated for the Molières as best show. The show continues to please in Paris and has even embarked on a French tour.

The Imaginary Invalid in A major
This show for the whole family continues its journey at the Comédie Bastille. He has been a hit in Paris for several years now. 4 actors-singers-pianists share the roles of Molière's work, adapted and set to music for the occasion. And since we are celebrating Molière's 2022th birthday in 400, this is another good reason to applaud the show.

Nocturnal Illusions
Here is a new musical show to discover in Paris in 2022. We are in 1939, a young artist wants to create the biggest cabaret in an old printing house. To do this, he surrounds himself with all kinds of personalities: a revolutionary painter, a young Polish singer in the metro, etc. We follow his personalities and their lives as War approaches.
The show delighted spectators and critics alike in Avignon in 2019.

Josephine B at the Theater de Passy
For its opening to the public, the Théâtre de Passy did a great job. Here is a superb musical show about Josephine Baker. And it's all there: the Charleston, the sideburns, the banana skirt and the singer's intrepid character. Joséphine Baker is superbly interpreted by Clarisse Caplan, alongside Thomas Armand.

And two. A few months after the Pantheonization of the Franco-American dancer and activist, we learn that a new musical on the life of Josephine Baker will soon be produced. A casting announcement recently appeared, looking for actors and singers.
The show will be performed at the Nouvelle Ève from June 3 to 28, 2022 with Raphaël Bancou as musical director and Florie Sourice as choreographer.

Edith Piaf, I don't care about the past
Success, recovery! The musical show on Edith Piaf is resumed at Studio Hébertot until February 23, 2022. The show immerses us in the 30s to 60s and follows a young woman who pretends to be Edith Piaf until the day she meet. In New York, a competition is organized to elect the most beautiful work of art in the world. Offended by this competition, four works of art come out of their frames: The Mona Lisa, Andy Warhol's Marylin, Botticelli's Venus and a dancer by Degas.
