Candid

The naive candid is engaged to the beautiful daughter of the Baron of Westphalia Cunégonde. With the chambermaid, Paquette and Cunégonde's brother, Maximilian, they all firmly adhere to the doctrine inculcated in them by Professor Pangloss: "Everything is at best in the best of all possible worlds".
However, this doctrine is constantly questioned because Candide is, in a whirlwind of events, exiled and then forced into the Bulgarian army, caught up in the Spanish Inquisition, swindled, castaway on a remote island, and separated his Cunegonde.
