Crazy For You

Bobby Child is a banker to his mother, Lottie. But he spends his free time rehearsing dance routines and sneaking up to audition for Zangler's Follies, New York's most popular show.
Sadly, Bobby's showbiz career isn't going anywhere, and his fiancée insists he proposes to her.
When his mother asks him to go investigate a client who has not repaid his loan, Bobby jumps at the opportunity to leave New York.
He arrives in Deadrock, Nevada. Bobby falls in love with Polly Baker, whose father owns the magnificent Gaiety Theater, which falls into disrepair and which Bobby has been sent to seize.
Bobby comes up with a plan: call the Follies Girls of New York and the locals, and put on a show to save the old building.
But Bobby is going to be dealing with twists and turns before he can have a happy ending.

  • Inspired by another work : The musical is largely based on another Gershwin musical: "Girl Crazy". "Crazy For You" therefore uses songs from "Girl Crazy" as well as other songs from various Gershwin shows (such as "A Damsel in Distress", "Oh, Kay!", "Shall We Dance") to create a "musical comedy". Girl Crazy, which premiered in 1932, marked Ethel Merman's stage debut and introduced Ginger Rogers to overnight stardom.
