Boston, 1959. At the Colonial Theater, the cast of Robin Hood salutes at their first performance The Curtain Falls and Jessica Cranshaw, the talented lead actress collapses.
Enter Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, a policeman who loves musicals. He quarantines the theater, cast and crew as he searches for clues.
But Cioffi doesn't just investigate the murder. It also offers tips and ideas for improving Robin Hood.
The show is due to resume the next day, so there are 24 hours to find a new star and find the killer. Who could be Jessica's murderer? Carmen Bernstein, the producer or Christopher Belling, the egotistical director? Georgia Hendricks, the lyricist who replaces Jessica on stage? Niki Harris, the ingress with a secret? Everyone is suspect and only Cioffi can make sense of the evidence.
Curtains takes up the codes of the musical to become a parody of a classic musical.
