  • anecdotes : Choreographer Bob Fosse insisted on meeting Gwen Verdon before working with her on the show. This marks the beginning of their artistic and romantic collaboration because they married in 1960. (Besides, I strongly advise you to watch the TV series Fosse/Verdon which retraces their journey, it's fascinating!) Did you know? During the castings, the producers decided that the role of Lola should be played by a dancer: Mitzi Gaynor and Zizi Jeanmaire both refused the role before Gwen Verdon was chosen. She initially refused before accepting the role.
