Fiddler on the Roof
(A violin on the roof)

The story follows Tevye, a poor milkman, his wife Golde and his 5 daughters, Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Shprintze and Bielke in the small village of Anatevka. Tevye tries to protect her growing daughters. He wants to instill in them traditional Jewish values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Tsarist Russia. His five daughters become women and the village matchmaker wants to organize their weddings. But the young women fall in love with men who do not meet the Jewish criteria desired by Tevye and they leave their families one by one. Meanwhile, the Tsar's troops expel the Jewish community from their village.
