Summary of Jagged little pill :
The Healys - Mary Jane, Steve, and their kids Nick and Frankie - seem like a perfect suburban family. Mary Jane, the mother, tries to keep her cool despite the fact that her life is going into turmoil. She is secretly addicted to drugs and her marriage to Steve is distant and sexless.
His daughter, Frankie, who is adopted, is the only black member of the family. She feels alienated by the way her mother has weakened her black identity. Frankie also explores his burgeoning homosexuality in the company of his best friend, Jo. The son, Nick, faces the pressure of being the perfect child in the family. Everything becomes more complicated when his best friend, Andrew, is accused of raping Frankie's friend.
A series of events disrupt the lives of the Healys and they must face hard truths about themselves and the world around them.
