Memphis

Memphis tells the story of Huey Calhoun (based on 1950's disc jockey Dewey Phillips). Huey has a mission: to bring blues and soul music to a white audience in the Southern United States. In this time of segregation, Huey optimistically believes that music can transcend race. He meets, in his journey, the future singer Felicia Farrell. The two fall in love, but must struggle against social barriers, a prejudiced mother and an overprotective brother.
