Rent

Rent tells the story of a year in the life of New York friends living the bohemian life from 1989 to 1990. Among the band members are our narrator, filmmaker Mark Cohen; his former girlfriend, Maureen Johnson, Maureen's girlfriend, Joanne, lawyer. Mark's roommate, Roger is an HIV-positive musician and a former drug addict; his new girlfriend, Mimi, the HIV-positive drug addict dancer, their former roommate, Tom, the HIV-positive computer genius who is dating HIV-positive musician and drag queen, Angel. Finally, Benjamin Coffin III, a former member of the group who got married and who is the opposite of everything they stand for. The film deals with love, loss, AIDS and modern life and shows all the changes it has experienced in a year.
