Something rotten!

Summary of the musical Something rotten! :

Welcome to the Renaissance, where brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom try to keep their acting company afloat and write plays. But they are eclipsed by the biggest celebrity of a moment: a playwright named William Shakespeare.
In a desperate attempt to outdo the Bard, Nick consults a diviner who informs him that the future of theater involves acting, singing, and dancing all at once! Wanting to anticipate Shakespeare's next success, Hamlet, the Bottom brothers strive to write: Omelette, musical comedy ! Things don't work out when Shakespeare disguises himself and manages to join the troupe to steal the two brothers' idea.

Something rotten! is a celebration of Broadway that uses the codes of the musical to parody it. It's absolutely hilarious!
