Summary of the musical Urinetown :
Following a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought, there is now a government ban on private toilets. This forces all the inhabitants of the city to do their business in paid public toilets operated by the only megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company.
If the poor refuse to pay to urinate, they are sent to the dreaded and mysterious "Urinetown". After too long under the yoke of CEO Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor are preparing a revolution, led by the young Bobby Strong. In the midst of this revolt, Bobby falls in love with Hope. When he learns that she is none other than Cladwell's daughter, Bobby and the revolutionaries decide to kidnap her to obtain their demands.
Urinetown is a musical satire that criticizes capitalism, while using the codes of musical comedy to parody it.
