Will Anastasia and Dear Evan Hansen replace Dreamgirls in London in 2018?

No, you're not dreaming! There are many rumors behind the scenes at the Savoy Theater in London and the programming of this theater is becoming more and more precise.

As Amber Riley performed her last performance as Effie White on November 18th, Dreamgirls announced the three female performers who succeed her today: Marisha Wallace, Moya Angela and Karen Mav. The show also extended its contract until June 2, 2018. Yet the future of the musical remains unclear.

It is rumored that Dreamgirls would be replaced in June by Anastasia which is currently playing on Broadway.
At the Broadhurst Theater in New York, Christy Altamore performs the role of Anastasia alongside Derek Klena and Max Von Essen (to name a few) and the show is scheduled until January 2019 on Broadway, this which suggests a new English cast for performances at the Savoy Theater!

Anastasia would only be in London for three months and then be replaced by Dear Evan Hansen!

We have been for months We awaited information on the musical prized nine times at the Tony Awards and which made it possible to discover the talented Ben Platt to the whole world.

If at the moment nothing is set in stone, Dear Evan Hansen is strongly anticipated for the start of the 2018 school year. Again, it seems likely that the London production will call for a new cast and that tickets will sell like hotcakes (or baguettes)!

Suffice to say that all is well for Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (the composers of Dear Evan Hansen currently on Broadway and notably winner of the best musical at the Tony Awards, La La Country and The Greatest Showman for which they have won the Golden Globe for best original song for two consecutive years).

So we look forward to more news on the London arrival of these two musicals and keep our fingers crossed that these rumors turn out to be true!
