Review - Folle Nuit à Paris

[yasr_overall_rating]

On April 8, 2021, we had the chance to see the musical show Folle Nuit à Paris. The show has already made a remarkable appearance at the Bal Blomet in 2017 and at the Hébertot Studio in 2019. We hope to see it again on Parisian stages as soon as possible.

The show Folle Nuit à Paris is written by Thomas Cannariato, directed by Madlyn Farjot with arrangements by Johan Farjot.
It tells the crazy adventures of Louis and Elsa who try to escape from mafiosi, find themselves on the roofs of Paris, at Dali's, in the police station with Hemingway or even in Jean Cocteau's cabaret!

A flawless performance

We must immediately underline the excellent staging of Madlyn Farjot. Thought out as a choreography and meticulous down to the last detail, it gives all the fluidity to the show. The show is efficient, without downtime and we regret that it only lasts 1 hour 15 minutes!
Thomas Cannariato's text is charming and funny without ever being too long. We recognize the great influence of films Midnight in Paris, Charade, Singin' in the Rain or even After Hours… What a joy!

An excellent cast

And to interpret this text, we have four fantastic artists. At the piano, Benjamin Pras is in charge. Jeanne Jerosme, Matthieu Becquerelle and Thomas Cannariato share around thirty characters, all more extravagant than the others. With few accessories, they go from Corsican mafia to prostitute without forgetting the famous artists who will punctuate this crazy evening in the capital. They are as brilliant in their interpretations of the songs as in the dialogues where their comic potential is perfectly exploited!

Not just any music

The show takes up many jazz songs while adapting the lyrics brilliantly. We therefore find superb musical moments such as the song “À quoiera ma vie”, based on “Just a Gigolo” or “Mon Homme”, “Les Triplettes de Belleville”.
Only downside of the show: we regret the song "Your Pain" which breaks with the style of the rest of the show.
In addition to the piano, Thomas Cannariato joins the musical accompaniment on the gypsy guitar. There are also some great moments when the percussions are thought into the staging and even add a comic effect.

We hope to have made you want to discover this musical spectacle. To make your mouth water even more, here are some excerpts from the show:

Folle Nuit à Paris is a real ode to its capital and its artists and we can only advise you to run and discover it. Big projects are underway for this show and we hope to find it as soon as possible on the Parisian stages.
And to follow the adventures of the Pliez Bagage Company, it's this way !
