Katharine McPhee takes over the role of Jenna in Waitress!

Sara Bareilles, who composed the music for Waitress (which earned her a Tony & Grammy nomination), returned to the stage of the Brooks Atkinson Theater in New York on January 16 to reprise the role of Jenna. We got to see her alongside Jason Mraz who was reprising the role of Doctor Pomatter from November to February.
Sara Bareilles announced the end of her run for March 11, 2018 and the twittosphere was biting its fingers impatiently and wondering who could succeed her.

The young composer announced on Twitter that Katharine McPhee will take over the leading role of Jenna!

Katharine McPhee is known from the general public for his appearance in the fifth season ofAmerican Idol, his different albums and the role of Paige Dineen in the series Scorpion since 2014.

It's mainly thanks to the role of Karen Cartwright in the series Smash, directed by Steven Spielberg and whose cast includes among others Megan Hilty, Chritian Borle, Debra Messing, Leslie Odom Jr., Jeremy Jordan (and many others!) that Katharine McPhee has earned her place in our hearts. In Smash, she interpreted a young actress competing to interpret Marylin Monroe in a musical workshop named Bombshell.

We could hear it belter Let Me Be Your Star alongside Megan Hilty and fall for her voice when she sings 'Don't Forget Me' as Marylin Monroe (music composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman).
The series Smash only had two seasons, lack of sponsors, and although the musical Bombshell was claimed by fans, she only saw the light of day on Broadway one night with a benefit concert for The Actors Fund in June 2015.

So it will be Katharine McPhee's Broadway Debut in Waitress who will play her first performance as Jenna on April 10th! In the meantime, I invite you all to watch Smash (if it's not already your February ritual)!
