After the success of live musicals Grease! et A Christmas Story, the American television channel Fox program Rent by Jonathan Larson for January 29, 2019.
The cast includes Kiersey Clemons as Joanne, Brandon Victor Dixon as Tom Collins, Jordan Fisher as Mark and Vanessa Hudgens as Maureen. Brennin Hunt will be Roger, singer Mario will be Benjamin, singer Tinashe will be Mimi and Valentina (known for Ru Paul's Drag Race) will be Angel.
Keala Settle will also be part of the production and will notably sing the solo of "Seasons of Love".
Director Michael Greif, who directed Rent in 1996, will once again direct the actors.
Jonathan Larson's musical is freely inspired by Puccini's La Bohème. Jonathan Larson was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1996 but he unfortunately passed away suddenly the morning of the premiere.
The rock musical launched the careers of several stage and screen favorites, including Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Taye Diggs, Jesse L. Martin and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
