The Regent's Park Open Air Theater today confirmed through the announcement of Stephen Gabriel, President and Executive Producer of Work Light Productions, that Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of the iconic musical Jesus Christ Superstar rewarded at the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards will be launched in North America in autumn 2019.

Under the direction of Timothy Shader, Artistic Director of Regent's Park Open Air Theater, the tour will be produced by The Really Useful Group and Work Light Productions.

“This musical is aimed at both theater audiences and concert music fans. This production pays homage to the 1971 Billboard Album Of The Year, while creating a modern, theatrical world that is unique and inspiring, ”said Stephen Gabriel.

The director is directed by Timothy Sheader and the creative team also includes Tom Scutt (set and costumes), Drew McOnie (choreography), Tom Deering (music supervision) and Lee Curran (lighting designer). The Regent's Park Open Air Theater production won Best Musical Performance at the Olivier Awards and Evening Standard Award and sold out in 2016 and on its revival in 2017.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a proven musical phenomenon with admirers around the world as demonstrated Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert from NBC, which took place on April 1. The live musical drew over 9,6 million viewers and received the highest ranking of all live television music events.
Almost 10 years after the last major US tour, this award-winning production of Regent's Park Open Air Theater will perform on more than 50 stages across North America.
