Zourou, beyond words
This Festival d'Avignon 2022 is my musical favorite! Zuru tells the story of a young disabled girl with a severe language disorder who lives alone with her father. The lives of Lola and her father will be turned upside down by the arrival of Jérémie, the speech therapist and Jeanne, the father's new companion.
A very poetic look at disability with magnificent dance interludes and a staging by Mélodie Molinaro. And of course, with the music of Stéphane Corbin (Our Parallel Lives): we are sure to have tears in our eyes.
We find the superb Morgan L'Hostis in the role of Lola alongside Tristan Garnier, Sophie Kaufmann and Emmanuel Quatra.

Frantz
My second favorite of this Festival is not a musical show, strictly speaking, but a noisy show! This is the bet taken up by the young BPM company created by former students of the Jacques Lecoq school.
We follow the life of a young office worker with an ordinary daily life, quickly overtaken by his family memories. The character of Frantz is played/mimed by an actor while 3 actors create all the sounds that surround him with manual objects (pliers, tubes, buckets, drills, etc.) It's very beautiful, strong and impressive. You have to see it to believe it.

Zucchini
Among the musical shows to see at the Festival d'Avignon 2022, you cannot miss Zucchini. And yes, after the movie My Zucchini Life, the novel by Gilles Paris now exists in theaters. Icarus, or rather Courgette, is a young boy placed in a home for "damaged children" following a family accident. There he meets Ahmed, Simon, the policeman Raymond as well as the beautiful Camille...
Even if we regret that the songs are in English, we fall under the spell of the 5 comedian-musicians. The latter sing, play several instruments and give life to a myriad of endearing characters. We find in particular the superb Vanessa Cailhol!
A show full of tenderness and hope that will touch the whole family.

A tailor-made life
A great classic that we still love as much. The show has been touring all over France for more than 10 years and it is still as invigorating as ever. This alone on stage tells the story of a young boy who discovers himself and matures thanks to his passion for the drums.
It's touching, impressive, musical and perfect for the whole family.
At the Fireflies Theater at 18:05 p.m.. Off on Wednesdays.
Turkey
After his appearance at the Théâtre de l'Essaïon, Turkey comes to cackle at the Théâtre de l'Atelier Florentin. A musical that sets Feydeau's play to music. It's funny, without dead time, with endless gags and characters all more offbeat than each other.
On stage, there are 7 performers and a pianist who are all very good. A moment of musical madness as we like them!

Rocket Man - Elton and Me
Gildas de Saint-Albin, pianist and singer grew up to the rhythm of the songs of Elton John. For 1 hour, he covers the greatest hits that have marked his life as well as those of the spectators. He is accompanied on piano and vocals by the formidable Léa Ruhl with some 4 hands of thunder. You can't help but mutter the lyrics and dance in your seat.
A nice show for all fans of Elton John and lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Comedians!
The flagship show by Samuel Sené, Eric Chantelauze and Raphaël Bancou is back in Avignon. As much to tell you that success is at the rendezvous. It's been a full house since the start of the Festival and it's not about to stop. 3 actors rehearse for a musical show. But the intrigues taking place behind the scenes gradually merge with those of the show... The end is striking.
A very well written and well paced show. It is interpreted with pep by Marion Préïté (whom we adore), Fabian Richard, and Cyril Romoli.

Offbeat
What ? You don't know the life of François Courdot? Then you must see this musical show also signed by Samuel Sené, Eric Chantelauze and Rapahël bancou. A real musical feat from singers Marion Préïté and Marion Pylaka and pianist Raphaël Bancou. And even if we are not completely convinced by the staging, we are embarked on this completely insane story full of surprises.
At the Buffon Theater at 14:45 p.m., off on Tuesdays.
The Game of Anatole or the merry-go-rounds of love
A musical spectacle that is a little confusing but in which we let ourselves be taken. The play follows the relationships of Anatole, a real charmer, at 5 different times. We don't really have a plot, but scenes that follow one another and new characters that appear. Still, we let ourselves be taken by the melodies of Offenbach revisited and by the 4 actors who give all their energy in the dialogues and songs. We especially note the performances of Mélodie Molinaro (to whom we owe the staging of Zourou) and Guillaume Sorel.

Titanic
Titanic is back in Avignon. A show with a thousand incredible stories of love and humor with nearly 20 musicians and performers.
I found the show long and with too many subplots and not enough music. But there were still some very nice things. Do not hesitate to go discover it and share your opinion with me!

Unfortunately, I did not manage to fit this show into my very busy job at this Avignon festival. However, I only heard good things about it, especially regarding Vincent Heden's performance.
