[yasr_overall_rating]
Discover the review of the musical Come From Away which has been extremely successful since 2017.
On Broadway, the show was nominated for 7 Tony Awards and won Best Directing. And we understand why. The musical paints a message of courage and generosity even in the most difficult of times.

The plot

On September 11, 2001, a terrorist attack struck New York. More than 30 planes are forced to land in Gander, a small island in eastern Canada. First of all, passengers cannot leave the plane for 28 hours, left without information or a means of contacting their relatives. They are then greeted by the inhabitants of Gander who have united to welcome the 7.000 disabled passengers. They plan to eat, spare parts and telephones to reassure passengers.
But all will be changed by the generosity of the people of Gander and will create unforgettable friendships and memories during this dreadful period. The musical brings together all nationalities, traditions, cultures, religions and offers a message of hope, friendship and unity.

Our opinion

The variety of emotions expressed on stage is formidable. The situations are very funny and the dialogues even more so. There is a perfect balance between the seriousness of the subject and the humor that is brought.
The troupe is made up of 12 actors, each playing several characters who are clear and quickly defined. It also makes it possible to represent the different reactions to events: between the English speaker who falls in love with his cabin neighbor, the homosexual couple from Los Angeles, the mother without news of her firefighter son in New York, the airplane pilot who reflects on the fragility of his profession, etc.

The performers are sensational and bring incredible energy to the show. The spirit of the troupe is wonderful on stage. We note in particular the performances of Rachel Tucker (previously Elphaba in Wicked), Clive Carter and Robert Hands.
The songs are linked with energy and mix rock, folk and powerful ballads. We leave the theater with the melodies in mind and the desire to resume the choreographies seen on stage.

In 1h40 we saw a real emotional lift, we go from laughter to tears and the second when the show is over, all the spectators are standing, in tears, to applaud the theatrical phenomenon we have just witnessed.

What stands out from this show is the staging of Christopher Ashley. There is a real fluidity through the musical. With the help of a few chairs, tables and accessories, we are transported to different places and situations, it is particularly ingenious.
