Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley will lead Cabaret in London

English actor Eddie Redmayne may well return to London to star in Cabaret ! Rumors have been circulating for several years and the cult musical will surely be back in November 2021. A look back at the careers of these actors and on the musical Cabaret.

It's been a while since we last saw Eddie Redmayne on stage. Since his last stage appearance in 2012, it must be said that he has been very busy in Hollywood!
First in 2013, he played Marius in the film Les Misérables. He was able to demonstrate his superb singing voice and we can't wait to discover him in Cabaret ! Then, he goes on to success with A wonderful history of time (which earned him an Oscar), the series of Fantastic animals, The Danish Girl et Jupiter.

In Cabaret in London, Eddie Redmayne will play the central role of Emcee, the cabaret master of ceremonies. It will follow in the footsteps of actors Joel Gray and Alan Cumming who have both won numerous awards for the role.
Moreover it is a role that he has already played. Then 19 years old, Eddie Redmayne was already playing the Emcee of Cabaret during the Edinburgh Festival! This character represents sexual freedom and is completely omnipresent throughout the musical. He will perform the hits "Wilkommen", "Money" and "If You Could See Her".

Jessie Buckley is an Irish singer who knows a lot about London stages. She played in A Little Night Music, The Winter's Tale et Henry v. Most recently she starred in Romeo & Juliet facing Josh O'Connor at the National Theater. But she is best known for her onscreen roles in the series. Taboo, Fargo et Chernobyl as well as in the movies Judy, Beast et Wild rose.
In Cabaret, she will play the role of Sally Bowles, immortalized on the screen by Liza Minnelli.


Cabaret: the essential musical

The musical Cabaret opened on Broadway in 1966 and was immediately successful. Since then, the show has been put together many times and each time meets with even more enthusiasm. In 1972, Bob Fosse directed and choreographed the film Cabaret. This is the first time that we see Liza Minnelli sing on the screen. Here again, the film is adored.
The musical is set in Berlin at a seedy club called the Kit Kat Club. Relationships are formed as soon as the Nazis come to power. We find the mythical songs "Willkommen", "Maybe This Time" and "Cabaret". To know everything about the Cabaret musical, click here.
