In the beginning was the dance

Adriana DeBose grew up in South Carolina, from a Puerto Rican father and a white mother. She started dancing at a very young age and then turned to musicals as a teenager. It's apparently watching Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge that she would have wanted to get on the boards.
In 2009, she arrived in the top 20 of the show So You Think You Can Dance (the equivalent of The Voice for dance!). Always on television, she plays in the soap opera One Life to Live.

Quickly, Ariana DeBose takes the stage in Company with the New York Philharmonic. She also appears in the regional productions of Hairspray et Bring It On with whom she goes on tour. Finally, in 2012, she made her Broadway debut with Bring It On.
Then everything happens very quickly. The following year, she joined Motown on Broadway where she understudy the role of Diana Ross.
In 2014, she starred in Pippin and even takes over the role of Leading Player. It will then be the role of Éponine in Les Misérables which she will perform at the Connecticut Repertory Theater.
But another success will soon make its debut…

Hamilton

In 2015, Ariana DeBose joined all of Hamilton, which first plays Off-Broadway before moving to the Richard Rodgers Theater. She embodies the fascinating role of The Bullet until 2016.
After a few screen appearances, she played Jane in A Bronx Tale on Broadway.

Disco Donna and the beginning of fame

At the end of 2017, Ariana DeBose finally shines in a leading role in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. She takes the role of Disco Donna to Broadway and is nominated for the Tony Awards!
Then, in 2019, she was chosen to play the role of Alyssa Greene in the adaptation of The Prom. The film directed by Ryan Murphy will be released on Netflix in 2020. In 2019, she joined the prestigious cast of Anita.

The actress, singer and dancer is therefore chosen to interpret the role of Anita in the remake of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg. But Ariana DeBose almost didn't take part. She has declined 4 times to audition for the role! The 5th will be the good one and Ariana DeBose takes over the role of Anita, created by Rita Moreno in the film by Robert Wise. This role had earned the actress the Oscar and the Golden Globe for best actress in a supporting role in 1962.
60 years later, Ariana DeBose is sweeping up every award show. She was awarded the BAFTA, Critics' Choice, Golden Globe and SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first Afro-Latina and openly gay woman to win the award.

Always on screen

The career of the young actress is just beginning and she is always ready to commit to new projects. In 2021, she plays in the hilarious series Schmigadon!. A series that parodies musicals and that I can only recommend to fans of the golden age of Broadway. She also joins the spy movie argylle alongside Sam Rockwell and Henry Cavill. She will also star in the movies. ISS et The Hunter requirements. In 2022, she will also join the series Westworld.

Back in the world of musicals, Ariana Debose will be the mistress of ceremonies for the 75th Tony Awards.

LGBTQUEAN 🏳️‍🌈

Ariana DeBose is openly gay. She and Jo Ellen Pellman created the Unruly Hearts initiative. The latter offers resources to young people of all sexualities and connects them with organizations that defend the LGBTQ+ community.
