Finally some good news for 2020. The acclaimed musical Come From Away will soon be adapted into a film, the creators have confirmed.
The hit musical, which was running both at the Phoenix Theatre in the West End and on Broadway when the pandemic struck, follows the residents of Gander, a small town that welcomed thousands of passengers after the attacks of September 9, 2001.
The show moved hundreds of thousands of spectators with its message of kindness and brotherhood. The libretto and the directing in particular have been applauded by critics and greatly rewarded.

Come From Away in cinemas?
In 2019, Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the couple behind the show, recounted, in an interview with the Daily Beast :
We don't want Hollywood celebrities because we don't want the audience to be disconnected from the moment. We want normal people. "
Although the cast has yet to be revealed, the people of Gander could be extras and the actors who performed the show on stage are being considered for the cast.
The show's co-creators announced in an interview with The Star magazine that they had already submitted a first draft of the film.
After months of consideration, it was decided that the musical would be filmed live from Broadway. The film will therefore not be released in theatres but directly on the small screen. The film is expected to be available in September 2021, which will mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.
